DETAILS: Strip Search is a contest for new, up-and-coming burlesque artists! Watch as a dozen sexy performers battle it out to become 2012's Strip Search Champion, as well as to win fabulous prizes AND a spot in this summer's 5th Annual Toronto Burlesque Festival, competing in our first International Strip Search, Friday July 20th at the Gladstone Ballroom!
The first Strip Search Toronto took place in 2008, before the inaugural Toronto Burlesque Festival and was then designated as a recurring, biennial competition in 2010. Our past winners, Miss dd Starr, James and The Giant Pasty, Dew Lily, Patte Rosebank, Trixi Jones, Lily Lemonpie, Olive-or-Oliver and Patastrophic Sexapeel have all joined the ranks of the most active and celebrated performers in town! However, this year's event will crown a champion not simply for Toronto but for all of Ontario! Who will be the next great Burlesque Star of Tomorrow? You'll have to come on out to find out!
Our esteemed judges will include: Canadian Burlesque Hall of Famer and Artistic Director of Skin Tight Outta Sight and the Toronto Burlesque Festival, Miss Tanya Cheex; from Boylesque T.O. and Les Coquettes, past Strip Search winner Dew Lily; a veritable Canadian burlesque legend who graced the stages of Minsky's Casino Burlesque, Starvin Marvin's and the Victory Theatre, the one and only Irish Mist; plus, a special celebrity judge from the local media TBA!
In addition, there will be several performances by the current superstars of Toronto Burlesque, as well as silent auctions and balloon prizes! Hosted by Sexy Mark Brown and the Canadian Wolfman!
